TU's Approach To Conservation

Our Conservation Approach
Trout Unlimited believes that conservation should be a partnership between all stakeholders. We work to protect critical habitat from development and human impact, to reconnect streams by removing dams and replacing culverts and to restore degraded waterways so that wild and native trout can survive and thrive in them once more. We use a science-based approach to drive our decision-making and priorities.
Conservation at the Chapter Level
For TU’s 400 local chapters – and their 150,000 members – conservation is the driving factor that connects us all as a community. Whether your chapter holds annual trash cleanups, plants trees along the river or participates in larger in-stream projects, opportunities for members to “get their waders wet and their hands dirty” is essential to pushing our mission forward locally and to engaging volunteers and growing your chapters.
The following resources are designed to help your chapter begin or expand your conservation programs and projects. Your Volunteer Operations Staff are always available to answer questions and offer advice.
