Originally from Maine, I am a self-taught and lifelong fly fisherman.
I am an English Professor at Hiram College, which is located in Northeast Ohio(a part of Steelhead Alley). In addition to classes on American Literature and Writing, I teach a course called the Ethos and Practice of Fly Fishing. It’s an interdisciplinary course that introduces students to fly fishing, its science and conservation and its rich literary history. Students tie flies, write essays and experience the communal and individual excitement of fly fishing.
