Bio

Having caught trout, salmon and steelhead and saltwater species in over 22 different states, and several countries, Preston Larimer has been an avid fly fisher and fly tier for almost 40 years.  He has a Master’s degree in Wildlife Science and taught college and high school environmental science, marine ecology, and biology for many years. In addition to fly fishing, he is a skilled naturalist and birder, both in the eastern and western states. In his work in natural resource management, he has served on various resource management councils, including as a Director on Trout Unlimited’s National Resource Board and National Leadership Council.  The Arkansas River and high mountain lakes of the Sawatch range in Colorado are now his “home waters”, but he learned fly fishing on the streams of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Northern New England, and Missouri’s Ozarks, and spent 20 years guiding in the Medicine Bow mountains of southern Wyoming. He now guides full time in central Colorado on the Arkansas River, the South Platte River and on Alpine lakes For Arkanglers in Buena Vista and Salida, CO.  He has taught fly fishing, fly casting and fly tying, and loves to introduce new fly fishers to the sport.
